Air pollution exposure modelling around incinerators

A new study by researchers from the MRC PHE Centre for Environment and Health has highlighted how assessments of pollution exposure around municipal waste incinerators can be improved by dispersion modelling.

In the past, epidemiological studies often used simple proximity to source as a measure of exposure. However modern dispersion models can provide a far better estimate. The study, published in the Journal of Environment and Health compares proximity and dispersion modelling approaches around two municipal waste incinerators in England and Wales.
